The World’s Best Hotels for Stargazing
These luxurious and exotic hotels are the best places to be mesmerized by the universe and, more importantly, to wish upon a star

Last month, Americans were transfixed by the country’s first total solar eclipse in nearly 40 years. Millions of amateur astronomers stepped outside with eclipse glasses to view the rare happening from their home states, streamed the event from NASA’s website, or made the pilgrimage to the path of totality to experience the eclipse in its brief glory.
Though the next total solar eclipse won’t be hitting the U.S. until 2024, there are plenty of mesmerizing celestial phenomena for stargazers to feast their eyes on in the meantime. In fact, many dark-sky hotels (properties that are remote from light-polluted locales) across the globe are making the case for starcentric getaways, during which travelers can discover the cosmos with the help of on-property or local astronomers. From a private island in the Maldives to a remote Icelandic hotel in prime Aurora Borealis territory, here are our picks for stunning stargazing sojourns to take in between eclipses.
